You can see and track both but we use calories as our main metric because it gives a much better measure of effort. 


For example, you might record 1,000 steps but if they were all steps up, rather than steps down it would be a whole lot harder! 


By using calorie burn as our main metric we avoid this problem as - by its nature - it's a measure of energy expended. It also takes important individual variables such as weight into account.
